Rod Bearings on #1. See anything unusual? There is a faint parting line below the text in the bearing. If you look closely, you'll see the two locking tabs (that normally fit into the rod and cap are now flush. This bearing has spun.

This was as close as I could get and still get a clear photo. Note the horizontal line... that's the two bearing halves mated together.

When we got to rod number 4, it seems a bit loose, before cracking the nut loose. Once we pulled the cap off, this is what we found. The edge you see is very sharp; it's been worn away. The two bearing halves in this side have probably even been passin

From this angle you can just make out the other bearing half in the rod before we removed the piston.

Now this is an interesting picture. I can't be certain the one bearing half didn't fall between the other when I extracted the cap, but it's scary even if they weren't overlapping.

The thing to note in this photo is the sharp edge next to the bearing. That sharp edge indicates a ledge.

With the rod removed, you can now see the severe wear on the crank. Not only is it rough, but it's nearly a 1/16th inch worn on the thrust side. YIKES!

Here you get an idea of the severity of the wear, the lip you see if how thick the bearing should actually be.
