Piston put at top of cylinder. Air compressor dialed to about 65 PSI, compression tester hose used with the schrader valve removed and attached to the air. This keeps the valves seated. Before using the spring compressor, smack the retainers a few time

This is a screw type individual spring compressor. It works nicely for this kind of job. Compress just enough to remove the keepers.

Cylinder number 6 (drivers side). I'd already done number 5 without a problem. The seals were intact, hard as a rock but intact and removable. On -this- valve however, the seal appeared to be missing.

Found it. The valve stem seal for cylinder number 6, exhaust. It took a bit of work to get it out of the spring as it was severely distorted and hardened. It was quite crumbly.

New keepers in place. I'm holding the valve spring compressor against the new keepers as I relax the spring back into position.

Intake seal on #8. The passenger side stem seals were in similar condition to those on this side. I didn't bother taking a photo of each on the passenger side.

New keepers on the left, old keepers on the right. It was recommended I change the keepers until I can get to a proper rebuild of the engine. The stock keepers have been known to fail if they have extended mileage on them.

Here are all the stem seals from the drivers side. The missing one is the one that gave me trouble in the spring. I imagine the middle cylinders are toasted more, due to the exhaust gas recirculation port.
